Date: March 2010
Habitat: Prefers well drained loam, clay, caliche, and limestone.
Range: Coastal South Texas to Trans-Pecos
Notes: Holly like shrub that grows up to 5-7 ft. Flowers in early spring is a considered to be a good honey source. Produces edible fruit around May or June. Pioneers to Texas used the roots to create yellow dyes.
