Habitat: Prefers well drained loam, clay, caliche, and limestone.
Range: Coastal South Texas to Trans-Pecos
Notes: Perennial native to grasslands of Missouri south to Mexico. Creates sprawling colonies of flowers blooming from early spring into summer. The blooms are a favorite of moths.
