Habitat: Native to the dunes of Texas' barrier islands and coastal wetlands.
Range: Ranges across Texas coast lines.
Notes: Seeds are poisonous. The railroad vine assists with dune stabilization. The dunes along the Padre & Mustang barrier islands play a critical role in the erosion and storm damage mitigation. Therefore, this plant is very important to the barrier island ecology.
