Diet: Small mammals, insects, birds, persimmons, and acorns.
Habitat: Dens in hollow trees, stumps, and burrows
Range: Southern Cananda to Northern South America
Notes: Member of a genus that is credited as the most primitive of canids. One of two canines that can climb trees. The foxes pictured on this page were observed in a wooded area just above Onion Creek. The area is scattered with holes in the ground that are suitable for fox dens. Photo taken by Travis Green.
